Eating and Drinking in Mallorca
(Mallorca, Spain)
Restaurants in Mallorca
With fresh seafood in abundance and hundreds of beautiful coastal settings in which to enjoy a meal, it is no surprise that eating out is a favourite pastime in Mallorca. The waterfront areas of the island's resorts are usually a good place to look for quality restaurants, while there are also some gems tucked up in the mountains, inland from the beach resorts.
Although international flavours are widely available, local Mallorcan delights are on many menus including ensaimada, a doughnut-type pastry, and sobrasada, a kind of spicy sausage. Locally produced wine is also on-hand, made in the Llevant and Binissalem areas, while the Mallorcan liqueur, palo de Mallorca, is also available. As one of the most famous party islands in the Mediterranean, eating - and in particular, drinking - has become part of the holiday culture here and you will find restaurants and bars catering to tourists that stay open around the clock.
